Mexico’s diverse wealth of Pre-Colombian civilizations throughout the ages has had vast cultural influences on the country. It now breathes a distinctly cosmopolitan flavor and warmth that our contemporary designers all experience. Injecting elements of Mexico’s natural materials into their brilliant work, they have created modern designs that are inspired by both tradition and the country’s unique idea to be constantly evolving whilst always reflecting on the past.
JORGE ARTURO IBARRA
Luteca’s Design Director, Jorge Ibarra, grew up in Tijuana, Mexico intrigued by architect Ramirez Vazquez’s CECUT structure. Studying design in San Francisco and working in Milan has given him a solid foundation for international design ideas. His creations often reference Mexican brutalist architecture.
STUDIO MARTES
Studio Martes, based between France and Mexico, is the brain child of architects Aure Delaroière, Domingo Delaroière and Martin Le Bourgeois. Their combined love of pure geometry and constant exploration of local materials has lent itself perfectly to their conception of furniture that echoes the time of now in Mexico.
RODRIGO BERRONDO & PABLO IGARTÚA
With a specialty in woodwork, Rodrigo Berrondo and Pablo Igartúa combine functionality and aesthetics in large-scale furniture, blending classic techniques with modern tools. They seek to build enduring pieces of unique design and continuously work at perfecting their craft.
